BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - A 6-year, $15 million effort to wide Swan Lake Road in Bossier City is nearing completion.

The Times reports (https://bit.ly/1lqKsPL ) the work is expected to be finished ahead of schedule.

Striping and sidewalk work is underway now. City engineer Mark Hudson says the final segment will be the addition of a southbound turn lane onto Interstate 20. The turn lane should be completed in about three months.

The Swan Lake Road project, which has transformed the two-lane strip into a five-lane highway, is expected to provide relief for traffic congestion on Airline Drive and Benton Road.
