MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old South Florida boy stole his mother’s car because he didn’t want to go to school.

Miami Gardens police say the boy threw a brick at his mother and grandmother Tuesday morning before grabbing his mom’s keys and taking off. He reportedly drove around for about 45 minutes until police pulled him over.

The boy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and grand theft auto.

The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/IPkj7v ) reports that police weren’t naming the boy or his school.
