DETROIT (AP) - Police have been searching a five-square-mile area along and near Detroit’s east riverfront for a man who called 911 claiming to have been stabbed in the leg.

Officer Adam Madera says the man first called about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, saying he was inside a building but didn’t know the exact location.

Madera says the man spoke Russian. Police eventually brought in an interpreter to help them communicate with the man, who called back periodically.

Madera says officers are searching abandoned buildings, and overgrown lots and fields.
