BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) - A Utah man accused in the death of an infant girl has been ordered to stand trial.

Second District Judge Thomas Kay at a preliminary hearing Monday said he saw enough evidence to bring to trial the case of Tyler Ryan Geary, who is charged with felony child abuse homicide.

Layton City police Detective Eric Smith testified Monday that Geary first told police the girl fell off the couch but later said he got frustrated with her crying and shook her before dropping her on a bed.

The Standard-Examiner reports (https://bit.ly/1iqEo79) Geary’s attorney Fred Metos questioned police interview tactics.

Court documents show Geary and the girl’s mother, who live together, took her to the hospital. The girl was taken off life support days later.

Geary is scheduled to appear in court April 17.
