WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) - The vice president of Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown will be moving into the president’s role this summer.

The Watertown School Board has named Vice President Michael Cartney to lead the institute. He’ll take over for President Deb Shephard, who is stepping down at the end of June.

Cartney is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel who has been vice president at Lake Area Tech since 2007.
