FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) - York County deputies have shot and killed a man they say pointed a gun at them.

The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to a home in Fort Mill early Tuesday morning to check on someone who was reportedly suicidal.

Deputies say they shot 28-year-old James Youngblood after he pointed a gun at them. The coroner’s office didn’t say how many times Youngblood was shot.

No deputies were injured. As is customary in officer-involved shootings, the State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.

This is the second officer-involved shooting involving York deputies this year. In February, a deputy shot a 70-year-old man as he reached for a cane in the bed of his truck during a traffic stop.

That man was hospitalized, but survived.
