SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - A Sierra Vista man is in custody for alleged child abuse after his girlfriend’s 3-month-old twins were diagnosed with skull fractures.

Cochise County Sheriff’s officials say 21-year-old Steven Michael Rothbauer is being held on a $150,000 bond. He doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Rothbauer was booked into jail Tuesday on suspicion of multiple counts of aggravated assault, endangerment and child abuse.

Sheriff’s deputies were called a Tucson hospital after a 19-year-old woman brought in one of the babies.

Doctors discovered the infant had broken ribs, a broken arm and multiple skull fractures in various stages of healing.

Medical staff requested to see the other twin and doctors found that child also had a skull fracture.

The woman told authorities Rothbauer often watched the babies and last did so on Saturday.
