BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) - Police arrested a Baker City woman accused of animal neglect and initiating a false report.

The Baker City Herald (https://is.gd/yDifnC ) reports 30-year-old Marcia Studebaker was arrested Tuesday after police determined she was the owner of a dog that broke both its forelegs when it was hit by a car.

Studebaker told police last week she had the dog overnight after it had been abandoned. Police believe Studebaker falsely reported that someone abandoned the animal.

The newspaper reports that members of the community raised money to pay for the dog’s operation. The border collie mix has been given the name “Trooper” by staff at the Animal Clinic of Baker.
