SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - Residents in a southeast Sierra Vista neighborhood are being told they no longer need to boil their water before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food, making ice ad washing dishes.

Cochise County health officials announced Tuesday that the latest tests for the East Slope Water Co. are negative for E. Coli bacteria.

According to county officials, the water supply is deemed safe for customers and the company is notifying its customers.

The notice to boil water was issued last week after the state Department of Environmental Quality said tests confirmed the presence of E. coli in the water system.

Officials said at the time that they suspected the problem occurred because a water tank valve may have become stuck and allowed untreated water to pass through the tank.
