NEW YORK (AP) - An aide at an after-school program in the Bronx has been accused of sexually abusing two 8-year-old girls.
The special commissioner of investigation for the New York City school system says 21-year-old Steven Walters abused the girls while working as an after-school aide at the School of Science and Applied Learning.
Investigators say Walters also touched a 7-year-old girl inappropriately.
Walters was arrested July 16 on charges relating to one of the 8-year-olds. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and is being held on $100,000 bail.
His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
A spokesman for the Bronx district attorney’s office says the investigation is ongoing.
Walters was employed by Good Shepherd Services. The agency said it has suspended Walters and is cooperating with the investigation.
