CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (AP) - A driver who ran into a family in a northeast Ohio street, killing an 8-year-old boy, has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Sixty-two-year-old Christine Gregory pleaded guilty Monday to a misdemeanor count of vehicular homicide and traffic charges as part of a plea agreement.

Gregory was charged in the July 12 collision in Chagrin Falls that killed Eli Sachar, who was visiting from Virginia. Investigators said Eli and his family were crossing the street when the boy was hit by Gregory’s car. His 3-year-old brother and mother also were injured.

The Sachar family, in a statement, said Gregory “didn’t hit the brakes, she didn’t slow down, just kept driving.”

Gregory also will lose her license for the rest of her life.
