CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Cranston police are asking the public for help as they investigate a reported attempted abduction of a 9-year-old boy.

The boy told police that two white men who appeared to be in their early 20s tried to lure him into their car on Villa Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday. He told authorities that the men were sitting in a vehicle, told him not to be afraid and asked him to come closer to them.

The boy ran home and told his mother what happened.

Police say the boy was able to provide only a limited description of the suspects and their vehicle. He said the two men were sitting in what appeared to be an older model gold vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call Cranston police.
