DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a Davenport man who police say was fatally shot by officers following a disturbance call.

Davenport police say 61-year-old Alvin Curtis Jennings was shot at by two officers following a report Wednesday night about a man with a knife threatening another male who had barricaded himself in a bedroom.

The officers say they were confronted by Jennings with the knife. They say he didn’t obey commands to drop the knife and came at the officers. Both fired.

Police say Jennings died later at a nearby hospital. An autopsy was scheduled Friday.

The officers were identified as Epigmenio Canas and Shawn Sullivan. County and state officers are investigating.
