WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) - An 82-year-old man who was beaten and robbed in his south-central Missouri home last month has died.

The Waynesville Daily Guide reports (https://bit.ly/1mNKobT ) that Robert Willhite died early Thursday at a Columbia hospital.

Six people have been charged in connection with the July 24 burglary at the Swedeborg-area home where Willhite lived alone. Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long says his office may request additional charges once it receives results of an autopsy planned this week.

Willhite was severely beaten as the intruders made off with coin collections and two rifles.

Deputies went to his home the morning after the burglary when Willhite’s van was found on a farmer’s property. The officers found Willhite on the floor with his hands and feet bound by duct tape.
