GONZALES, La. (AP) - A Louisiana State Police spokesman says investigators have not found conclusive evidence of criminal negligence in the case of a sport utility vehicle that hit a group fishing in Ascension Parish, killing two children in June.

Trooper Jared Sandifer told The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1ql7TtL) that, while no charges are being filed, the report is complete and will be handed over to District Attorney Ricky Babin as early as Tuesday for a review.

Troopers have said the SUV driven by 47-year-old Shawnette B. Taylor of Prairieville went off the side of narrow, two-lane Bluff Road in a curve June 24.

It went down a steep embankment and hit the group that was fishing.

Nine-year-old Sarai “Ladybug” Lanus and her brother, 6-year-old Daylon “Duce” Lanus, 6, both of Geismar, were killed.
