SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities in Michigan’s Thumb say that a woman and her son were killed when she failed to yield at an intersection and collided with a crossing pickup truck.

The Huron County sheriff’s department says the crash happened about 3:15 p.m. Monday in Sheridan Township, south of Bad Axe.

The Huron Daily Tribune of Bad Axe and The Saginaw News say the crash killed 42-year-old Marie Wolschlager and 20-year-old Bryan Bevier. Both lived in the Bad Axe area.

The department says that 18-year-old Elizabeth Shepard was a passenger in Wolschlager’s car and was seriously hurt. It says a helicopter took her to a Saginaw hospital.

The department says the 31-year-old man driving the pickup was able to get out of his truck.
