SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - In a story Aug. 13 about a Park City teacher charged with possessing child pornography, The Associated Press reported erroneously the school district’s response. School officials said that they did not find that the teacher had a prior criminal record.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Police: Utah teacher, scout leader had child porn
Child porn charge for Park City 2nd grade teacher who was also a scout leader
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prosecutors say a former Park City teacher and scout leader has admitted to owning and watching child pornography.
They charged 31-year-old Jose Maria Ardanaz Ezcurida Monday with felony exploitation of a minor. It was not immediately clear Wednesday if he had an attorney.
Police say the 2nd grade teacher at Parley’s Park Elementary School had a thumb drive with five pornographic videos. He was removed from that post and from the Boy Scouts registry upon his arrest Saturday.
Court documents show the teacher, who was in the U.S. on a work visa, was abroad when police served a search warrant on Aug. 7.
The school district said it found he had no prior criminal record.
He was released from jail after posting $100,000 bail and is due in court Aug. 25.
