WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin authorities have charged a Michigan man with breaking into the Wausau police chief’s home and stealing his truck.

WAOW-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1ACyvxI ) 39-year-old Jason Warner faces up to 19 years in prison if convicted on the felony and misdemeanor charges.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department says the break-in happened Tuesday at Police Chief Jeff Hardel’s home in the Town of Maine.



Officers from the State Patrol picked Warner up after getting a call about a man walking along Interstate 94. They say his family in Michigan had reported him missing.

Authorities say they found Hardel’s truck about 4 miles away at a rest stop.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
