SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A Shreveport police officer accused of firing his weapon during the arrest of a suspect earlier this month has been cleared of any misconduct.
The shooting happened in Natchitoches Parish on Aug. 12 when members of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force were tracking down a man wanted for a Texas shooting. When officers found the suspect and tried to take him into custody, it was reported the officer fired at least one shot from his gun hitting the suspect in the lower body.
Police say the projectile that hit the suspect was not fired by the Shreveport officer.
KSLA TV reports (https://bit.ly/1llFw2W ) the officer has been returned to full duty. Police did not release the name of the officer due to departmental policy because the officer works undercover.
