LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Left back Eliseu Pereira scored the lone goal in the first half as Benfica beat newly-promoted Boavista 1-0 on Sunday despite coach Jorge Jesus being sent off at the end of the first half.

Pereira, who arrived this summer from Spanish club Malaga, scored what proved to be the winner in the 44th minute to give the defending Portuguese champions two victories in as many games.

Boavista finished with 10 mean after striker Jose dos Santos was shown his second yellow card for a handball in the 86th minute.

In other matches, Ahmed Hassan Koka scored a hat trick and Pedro Moreira had a double as Rio Ave thrashed Estoril 5-1, Belenenses beat Nacional 3-1 and Setubal beat Gil Vicente 2-0.
