MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a courtroom deputy who jurors say scolded them after they found a murder suspect not guilty.

The Star Tribune reports (https://strib.mn/1pBu0Ad ) district court jurors say the deputy chided them as they walked back to the jury room following a first-degree murder trial in July. They say the deputy said they’d made a mistake. They told the judge about her comments, including that a police officer had told her the man was guilty.

A spokeswoman says the Sheriff’s Office is investigating for possible disciplinary action. It’s unclear if the deputy was assigned to the jury for the two-week trial.

A Hennepin County attorney says prosecutors get guilty pleas and convictions in 90 percent of cases.
