JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Juneau police and animal control authorities are investigating the shooting of a dog in a North Douglas neighborhood.

The Juneau Empire (https://bit.ly/1lu1a58) reports animal control authorities early Friday night took a call that several dogs were running loose and acting aggressively in the neighborhood north of the Juneau-Douglas Bridge.

Police received at least one call of shots fired.

An animal control officer arrived and found one dead dog.

Gastineau Humane Society director Matt Musslewhite says animal control officials and police are trying to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
