DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A woman has assaulted a Des Moines man who tossed a toaster pastry and wrapper onto the woman’s 2-year-old child in her car.
The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1pLfKoG ) the incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday at a Des Moines convenience store. The woman told officers that as she was pumping gas, she saw her child throw items out a window. Police say security video shows a man who also had been pumping gas walk over, pick up the items and toss them back into the car. Officers saw pieces of the pastry in the child’s hair. The man told officers he didn’t know the person in the car was a child.
Police say the mother then attacked the man, punching him in an eye.
No arrests have been reported.
