COALVILLE, Utah (AP) - Authorities are asking residents along Echo Creek to keep an eye out for contamination after a crash sent about 30 gallons of fuel into the water.

North Summit Fire officials say the fuel spill happened about 5 p.m. Thursday, after semitrailer and an SUV crashed on Interstate 80.

The impact ruptured the gas tank and sent some diesel fuel flowing into the creek. Officials say hazardous materials crews put up booms in the stream to prevent the fuel from making its way to the Weber River.

First responders say they checked the three people who were involved in the crash, and all of them were released at the scene.

People who see evidence of the fuel in the water are asked to contact the Summit County Health Department.
