CHICAGO (AP) - ArrowStream has announced the wife of its CEO, who was severely wounded by a disgruntled employee, will temporarily take over the reins of the company.

In a statement posted on its website, ArrowStream announced Jody LaVoie is its acting CEO. The seller of supply-chain management technology says she will be assisted by the company’s existing executive team.

CEO Steven LaVoie remained in critical condition late Wednesday after being shot in the head and abdomen by Tony DeFrances. DeFrances, once listed on the company’s website as the company’s chief technology officer, was meeting with LaVoie to discuss a demotion when the shooting occurred.

DeFrances fatally shot himself.

In its announcement, ArrowStream stated published reports it was downsizing were wrong, adding it recently “signed multiple new customers,” and expanded its sales capability.
