JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie is paying tribute to military veterans.

The Republican governor visited Ellis Island Wednesday to lay a wreath in the Grand Hall as part of a Wreaths Across America ceremony.

The nonprofit group organizes wreath-laying ceremonies on the second Saturday of December each year across the country to honor veterans and fallen service members.

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno participated in a similar event at the State House in Trenton on Monday.

Another ceremony is planned at Finns Point National Cemetery on Saturday.
