SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Park City man accused of trying to have a romantic rival killed is taking a plea deal.

Court records show Dustin Ruffino pleaded to a reduced charge of attempted criminal solicitation Friday.

Charging documents say the 45-year-old Ruffino met undercover police officers during a drug investigation and asked them to kill his ex-wife’s new boyfriend.

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office says he told them where to find the man, gave them a down payment of $100 worth of tools and promised to pay more once the man was dead.

Ruffino faces one to 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 21.

His attorney Dana Facemyer did not immediately return a call for comment.
