SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say a man in custody stole a sheriff deputy’s vehicle in Utah and led officers on a chase before his arrest.
Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon says the man managed to get into the driver’s seat of the pickup truck near Eagle Mountain shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The Daily Herald reports the man led police on a high-speed chase before he was stopped and arrested.
Cannon says not all Utah County Sheriff’s Office vehicles have cages separating the front from the back.
It wasn’t immediately clear why the man was in custody or how he managed to get into the driver’s seat.
Eagle Mountain is a city of about 24,000 people about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City.
