MILWAUKEE (AP) - Family members of a 5-year-old girl who was fatally shot in Milwaukee have donated the stuffed animals they received from mourners to young hospital patients.
Laylah Petersen’s mother and sister delivered about 50 stuffed animals to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin on Thursday. Laylah was killed Nov. 6 when bullets were fired into her grandparents’ home on the city’s North Side.
Laylah’s mother, Ashley Fogl, says the gifts hat well-wishers left at the home where the shooting occurred were “overwhelming.” She says it makes her happy to bring a smile to another child’s face by donating the stuffed toys. She plans to give more stuffed animals to other area organizations.
Milwaukee police continue to investigate the shooting. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
