TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Police say they do not suspect foul play in the death of a man found inside a burning van.
Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit commander Sgt. Dale Phillips says police may never be able to determine whether the man’s death was an accident or self-initiated. The Tuscaloosa News reports that police believe the man is a 49-year-old Tuscaloosa County resident but are waiting for official forensic confirmation (https://bit.ly/1soZXd4).
Phillips says the investigation included review of some video footage.
Police aren’t certain how the fire began. But they say the man left his home on Thursday morning and was alone in the vehicle minutes before the fire was reported.
Utility workers found the van already on fire on Thursday morning in Brookwood.
