GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A 17-year-old girl has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for her role in the kidnapping of an 89-year-old woman who was locked in her car trunk for two days before being abandoned at a cemetery.
Jackeline Perez was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to carjacking, kidnapping and conspiracy.
Three co-defendants also have pleaded guilty or been convicted in the 2013 kidnapping of 89-year-old Margaret E. Smith.
Sixteen-year-old Junia McDonald was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty, and 19-year-old Rondaiges Harper is serving a 30-year sentence after being convicted by a jury. Eighteen-year-old Philip Brewer also has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced next week.
Authorities say Smith was kidnapped after Perez and McDonald asked her for a ride home from a Milford convenience store.
