DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police says that a man in a Santa suit is behind bars after shooting two men during a confrontation at a downtown gas station.

Officer Adam Madera says the men got in an argument about 2 a.m. Sunday over “Santa’s girlfriend, Mrs. Claus.”

Madeira says one of the other men ran to his car, and 26-year-old in the Santa suit apparently feared the other man was going to get a gun, so he opened fire.

The officer says the man in the Santa suit shot one man in the chest and the other in the hand. He says both 29-year-olds are expected to recover.

Madeira tells The Detroit News and WWJ-AM that two off-duty officers chased the shooter and pointed him out to a uniformed officer, who arrested him.
