GREENVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A western Michigan man who fatally shot a naked, drunken man in his home won’t face charges.
The Montcalm County prosecutor says Jess Braman acted in self-defense when he shot 27-year-old John Sherman Russell at his Greenville home in September.
Prosecutor Andrea Krause says there’s evidence that Russell presented an immediate danger. She says he refused peaceful requests to leave the home and then attempted to grab Braman’s gun.
Braman found Russell asleep on his couch. His blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit for driving. Friends told investigators that he had consumed many drinks at a bar hours earlier and was violent at another home.
