WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP) - Kyler Thornburg ran for 479 yards and six touchdowns, and Dalton Alcorn had 146 yards on the ground, as Alex defeated Laverne 68-64 Saturday for the Oklahoma Class B football title.

Alex (14-0) rolled up 809 yards in total offense, including 623 on the ground, in a game that featured big plays on both sides of the ball. Laverne had 663 yards in total offense.

Only one scoring drive lasted longer than eight plays; eight were four plays or less.



Alcorn’s 21-yard scoring run with 1:46 left, his third TD of the night, gave Alex its final margin. Laverne drove to the Alex 47 with 1:19 left but fumbled and Alex ran out the clock.

Tanner Allen threw three touchdown passes to Ihzan Castillo for Laverne (12-1), and also scored three times. He finished with 337 yards passing and 163 yards rushing. Dalton Birch added 101 yards.

Thornburg’s touchdowns covered 59, 60, 1, 48, 46 and 64 yards. Laverne’s Hunter Person had an 80-yard interception return for a score.
