ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Police say a woman trying to shoplift at a Rock Hill mall shoved a child in a baby stroller at a store employee in a parking lot as she tried to get away.

Authorities told local media outlets that the worker caught the stroller before it went into the road. The employee also managed to detain 46-year-old Linda Thompson until police arrived.

Investigators say Thompson stole $300 in jewelry and merchandise from Belk and lied to police about her name when she was arrested.

It wasn’t known if she had a lawyer.
