DENVER (AP) - Authorities in Highlands Ranch are investigating the deaths of a woman and teenage boy as a murder-suicide.
Ron Hanavan, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, says deputies and SWAT team members were called to the home near Northridge Park at about 8 p.m. Friday after a report of a shooting. Authorities say the teenager barricaded himself inside the home, and officers found his and the woman’s body when they forced their way inside at about midnight.
It’s unclear when the teenager and the woman were shot, and investigators haven’t said who pulled the trigger. Another woman was injured but managed to flee the home after authorities were called.
Deputy Chad Teller, another sheriff’s spokesman, tells The Denver Post (https://bit.ly/1fkLZmc ) the shooting appears to be “family related.”
The names of the victims haven’t been released.
