SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - Real estate officials in the Black Hills of South Dakota say the housing market held its own in 2013.

Reports show there were 101 residential sales in 2013 in the Lead and Deadwood areas, for a total of just over $19 million. That compares to 110 sales in 2012 for a total of $20 million.

The Spearfish market saw 275 residential sales in 2013, for a total of just over $61 million. There were 279 sales the year before, for a total of just over $55 million.

Officials are optimistic for 2014.

Ryan Wordeman, a broker and co-owner of the Real Estate Center of Spearfish, tells the Black Hills Pioneer (https://bit.ly/1eoVHpG) his office has received a “pretty high call volume” in the new year from people interested in buying homes.
