Utah man sentenced to 4 years on ND drug charge

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Utah man has been ordered to serve more than four years in prison on a drug charge in North Dakota.

Forty-six-year-old Rodney Kirk, of Spanish Fork, Utah, pleaded guilty in October to a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Authorities say Kirk moved from Utah to the North Dakota oil patch in 2011. Authorities who searched his residence in Williston found seven ounces of methamphetamine, with a street value of up to $20,000.

U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland ordered Kirk to serve four years and two months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
