KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Short-time U.S. Senate candidate Bill Flynn has thrown his support to the Rev. Mark Harris in the North Carolina Republican primary.

Harris‘ campaign said Flynn and Harris made the endorsement announcement Monday at a news conference at a barbecue restaurant in Forsyth County, where Flynn lives.

Flynn announced a couple weeks ago he was getting out of the race, citing poor fundraising.

Flynn was quoted in a Harris campaign release as saying the Charlotte pastor is a voice for those who see big government as dysfunctional and someone who will protect principles of “liberty, limited government, faith and family.”

Harris is one of at least five Republicans seeking the May GOP nomination. The ultimate winner is likely to take on Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan.
