CORNVILLE, Ariz. (AP) - A man is in custody for allegedly driving his motorcycle while intoxicated during a high-speed chase with northern Arizona authorities.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 48-year-old James O’Donnell is being held on suspicion of extreme DUI and unlawful flight from a pursuing law-enforcement vehicle.

The Black Canyon City man was arrested Sunday night.

Sheriff’s officials say a breath test showed O’Donnell’s blood-alcohol level was .203 percent. That’s well above the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.

A sheriff’s deputy noticed a crashed motorcycle and O’Donnell on the side of a road in Cornville around 9 p.m. Sunday.

O’Donnell rode off and reportedly took authorities on a 70-mph chase on Interstate 17 before pulling over.

He told authorities he had been drinking at a Cornville bar and wanted to avoid arrest.
