POOLER, Ga. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials in coastal Georgia say they’ll conduct an internal investigation after a man was fatally shot while deputies were trying to serve a warrant.

Chatham County Sheriff’s officials were serving a warrant in Pooler for a suspect charged with aggravated battery when shots were fired. It’s unclear if the suspect was armed and details on what prompted the deputy to shoot at the man weren’t immediately available.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gena Bilbo tells WSAV-TV (https://bit.ly/1dDfu0a ) that Pooler police have also been asked to conduct a separate investigation in to the shooting.

The man’s identity hasn’t been released. Pooler is just west of Savannah.
