MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A 54-year-old man who has spent much of his life in prison is headed back to serve a 12-year sentence for robbing two banks last year in Grants Pass.

John Edward Perdue of Grants Pass was given an enhanced sentence Monday in federal court in Medford as a career offender.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://is.gd/fNKTuo ) last year’s robberies occurred less than a year after he was released from state prison after serving time for robbing banks in 2008 in Roseburg and Grants Pass. He also was convicted of bank robberies in 1996.
