LOS ANGELES (AP) - A 21-year-old man has been convicted of attempted murder for a shooting that wounded four people outside a Halloween party on the University of Southern California campus last year.

City News Service says a Los Angeles jury deliberated just three hours before finding Brandon Spencer guilty Monday of four counts.

Spencer responded by angrily turning over a chair and demanding that sheriff’s deputies shoot him.

Prosecutors say Spencer was shooting at a rival gang member when he hit him and the others.

They say the gang rival had wounded Spencer two years before.

Spencer faces as much as life in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 21.

The shooting caused USC to beef up security and put other restrictions on events held on the campus just south of downtown LA.
