ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A jury has ruled against an Albuquerque man’s claim of excessive force by police officers who shot him in 2008.
The Albuquerque Journal (https://bit.ly/1aR0vF0) reports that the U.S. District Court jury returned its verdict against Stephan Cordova’s case after deliberating only a couple of hours on Monday.
Cordova was shot and seriously wounded in July 2008 when he started turning around as police yelled for him to raise his hands.
Cordova had a gun on him but witnesses testified they didn’t see him holding it during the encounter with police that ended with him being shot eight times.
A lawyer for the police officers said cross-examination indicated that the witnesses couldn’t see what they thought they saw.
