THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A Thibodaux man accused of killing and decapitating his son in 2011 is scheduled for a Friday pre-trial hearing that was rescheduled after last month’s ice storm.

Kristine Russell, Lafourche Parish assistant district attorney, tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1elVLSM ) Jeremiah Wright’s competency now and at the time of the killing will be discussed during the hearing.

Wright is charged with the first-degree murder of his 7-year-old son, Jori Lirette. The boy’s severed head was found on Aug. 14, 2011, in the driveway of his home.

The 32-year-old Wright pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but in November was found mentally fit to stand trial.
