HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island woman is accused of stealing jewelry from the homes of people who hired her to tutor their special needs children.

Suffolk County police say Bonni Blier of Ronkonkoma was arrested on Tuesday. She faces criminal possession of stolen property and other charges.

Police say they began receiving several reports of stolen jewelry in the Hauppauge area on Jan. 3.

They say Blier is a special education tutor who was providing in-home tutoring for children in the victims’ homes.

The investigation is continuing.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Blier has a lawyer.
