SUNAPEE, N.H. (AP) - Police say a Rhode Island man is charged with attacking a New Hampshire taxi driver and stealing his cab.

Sunapee police say 30-year-old John Kusinski of Providence, R.I., threatened to kill and tried to strangle the driver Tuesday night.

Authorities tell WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/1fhmkcM ) that the driver drove into the side of a convenience store during the struggle to try to get help. Police say he was able to escape and ran inside for help.

Authorities say Kusinski, who was picked up in Manchester, drove away in the cab and was arrested a short time later.

He’s charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, assault and theft.

It was not immediately known if he was being represented by a lawyer.
