SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Military investigators in San Antonio have blamed the death of a soldier discovered in a stairwell near his barracks on an apparent accidental fall.

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Command on Tuesday said Spc. Ian Patrick Morgan probably fell before he was found at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

The 28-year-old soldier was discovered early Sunday in the stairwell, taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

CID spokesman Chris Grey says investigators did not find any signs of foul play. Authorities believe Morgan earlier had attended a party.

Morgan was assigned to U.S. Army North headquarters, 56th Signal Co.
