PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The Nor’easter that’s headed to Maine could bring more than a foot of snow.

The National Weather Service says snow will arrive in southernmost Maine around 8 a.m. Thursday and in Portland between 10 a.m. and noon. Meteorologist Tom Hawley says it’s reasonable to assume Portland will get 8 or 9 inches of snow, while inland areas could see more than a foot of snow.

Some schools plan to close early on Thursday and some communities will have parking bans in place.

The amount of snow depends on the precise storm track, and the computer models are not in agreement.

Hawley says the rain could turn into sleet and light rain on the coast. He says the precipitation is expected to end Friday morning.
