RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno police are crediting an alert citizen for contacting authorities and thwarting a burglary.

Officers say the citizen contacted a nearby Washoe County sheriff’s deputy after noticing a man and woman inside the fenced yard of Michael’s Reno Powersports early Monday.

Police say deputies had detained a female suspect when a man approached from the side of the building.

The man talked with deputies then took off running but was captured after a brief foot chase.

Investigators say a hole had been cut in the fence of the business and the two suspects were allegedly stealing off-road vehicles when officers arrived.

Police says 35-year-old Travis Fonnesbeck and 44-year-old Clare Boland both had outstanding arrest warrants and face additional charges.
